Blog Posts
- Access the page you are wanting to work with by starting in the main Pages tab and then click on the page name you would like to edit. If the page is not created yet, create it.
- Click the "Add to this Page" link to expand the list of available page parts, and then click on the 'Blogs' link. You will notice that the Blog Page Part will be added to the page.
- Click the 'Blogs' page part name to edit its title and call it what you would like. Click Save.
- Click the 'New Post' button to begin the first entry for this blog.
- Enter a Title for the Blog entry.
- Enter the Date and Time (In central time zone) that you want this post to appear. Yes, you can back date and future date blog posts.
- If you want to allow commenting on your blog posts, enable this option otherwise leave unchecked.
- If you want to allow members only to comment, enable this option and select the groups or individual profiles that should be able to comment on this blog post.
- Enter the content for this entry.
- If you want to add tags (searchable keywords) for this blog, enter new tags or select from existing tags.
- Click 'Save' when finished. If you want this blog post to be published, select the 'Publish' option.
To edit the Blog page part's name, click its name of the blog and edit it. Click save.
To edit entries within the blog, click the name of the blog entry you are wanting to edit. After you are done editing, click 'Save'.
To delete an entry within the blog, click the checkbox to the left of the entry, and click the 'Delete' button.
To delete the Blog page part completely, click the 'Red X' by the Blog name, and confirm the deletion.
Notes
With each blog entry you will see a yellow box that displays the number of published comments for that entry, and a gray box that displays the number of total comments (pending, declined) for the blog entry.
You can also click on the column headers of the grid to sort the data. This is useful if you are working with numerous posts and need to find a post by name, date, etc.
Blog Settings
Notifications: Enter the email addresses separated by a comma that you want the system to send email notifications to once new blog comments have been added.
Blog Summary: If you want to only show a snippet of the blog's content for each blog post, enable this option. Readers will then click on the blog post name to view the blog post's full details.
Blog Archives: This will be a listed of months/years of previous blog posts so that readers can view previous month's listings.
Blog Tags: Searchable keywords that were used to 'tag' posts with. When readers select a particular tag, all blogs posts will be filtered to only show posts associated with the given tag.
If you want to limit the number of blog posts on your front page, enable the option and set the quantity preferred.
Blog Comments: If you want to require that comments must be approved before they post to the blog entry, enable this option. Otherwise, blog comments will be posted automatically to the entry.
Tag Management: If you want to add new or delete tags, this is the centralized place to do so.
Blog Comments
As comments are posted to each entry, you will be able to moderate the posts if you choose to. If your setting is turned on that the comments require approval before posting, in the Settings tab of the blog page part, the blog comments can be approved or declined in the blog's 'Comments' tab.
You will be able to filter the list of comments to see only All, Approved, or Pending by selected the corresponding radio button.
To approve or decline blog comments, select the checkbox beside the comment and click the 'Approve' or 'Decline' button respectively.
