Files

The files module allows you to upload, preview, edit, and delete files and folders for your site!  You will be able to see your overall disk space usage, thumbnails, and detailed information in regards to these files and folders!

To upload Media into the Files area

  1. Select the default folder to upload media to by clicking on that folder.  If you would like to create a New Folder to use, click the 'New Folder' button. You can have subfolders.
  2. Click the 'Upload' button to browse your computer for files to upload.  You can upload different media types into the same folder.  You can use the multiple file upload tool to upload a group of files into the folder at one time, or you can use the simple upload tool to upload one file at a time.

To edit folders within the Files Module

  1. Find the folder you are wanting to edit.  You can use the search tool, or click on the column headers to sort the list in alphabetical order.
  2. Click the 'File Name' link of the folder you are wanting to edit. 
  3. You will be able to edit the Name, Description, and Location of this folder
  4. Click Save.

To edit files within the Files Module

  1. Find the file you are wanting to edit.  You can use the search tool, or click on the column headers to sort the list in alphabetical order.
  2. Click the 'File Name' link of the file you are wanting to edit.
  3. You will be able to edit the Name, File Name, Description, and Location of this file.
  4. You can replace the file directly without having to delete the file, and reupload the new file, by choosing the replace file option during this edit process.  This is useful for site's changing out header rotation images with the same file names.
  5. If you are editing a picture, you will be able to rotate the image.  If you are editing text based files such as .txt and .xml files, you will be able to edit those file's contents within the edit screen.  This is useful for site's needing to adjust their flash rotation or manual podcast files.
  6. Click Save.

To delete a file or folder within the Files Manager, simply click the trashcan icon to the left of the file or folder that you are wanting to delete, and confirm the deletion. the system will check and see if the file or folder is being used anywhere on your site.  If it is, it will prompt and let you know! If you delete a folder that has files within it, the files will be moved to top level, so that you do not accidentally delete those files.
