Highlighted features
Beyond the functionality of archiving media, this module includes the following!

  1. Podcasting Made Easy! - Podcasting functionality has been streamlined in this module by each archive having its own feed url!  This URL can be used to setup a podcast in Itunes! Read the Podcasting Help Article to find out more information on how to do this!
  2. Universal Player - the above mentioned players are universal in that they will play via any browser!  You do not have to worry about your end users having the latest versions of browsers to allow for the players to work!

To Add a new Media Archive to your site

  1. Access the page you are wanting to work with by starting in the main Pages tab and then click on the page name you would like to edit. If the page is not created yet, create it.
  2. Click the "Add to this Page" link to expand the list of available page parts, and then click on the 'Media Archives' link. You will notice that the Media Archives Page Part will be added to the page.
  3. Click the 'Add New' button to add an archive.
  4. Next, the system will display a screen allowing you to edit the overall information for this archive. This includes the: Archive Name, Archive Subtitle, Archive Image, layout mode for playing, and Archive Description (HTML WYSIWYG).

To Add episodes to your Media Archive

  1. Click the edit link to the left of the Archive name that you want to add entries to.
  2. You will see the main Archive's information again should you need to edit it.  Scroll down to the Episodes / Entries area and then click the 'Add New' button.
  3. Next, the system will display a screen allowing you to edit the information for a single entry in your media archive.
  4. Fill out all the appropriate information.

NOTES:  You will be able to save both Speakers and Categories so that you do not have to enter this information manually every time you add an episode! Once you add a speaker or category, it will be databased, so that you can easily select it on your next episode if you need to! You do not have to associate Media to your episode at first. You can enter all your episodes first, then come back via 'Edit' and add your associated media files at that time, should you prefer to do this. Otherwise, associate media with your episode.

With each episode, you can associate the following types of media:

  1. Audio File. The audio file must be in .mp3 format.
  2. Video File. The video file must be in .flv format. Our player size is a 400px X 300px format so try to get your video file as close to that as possible.
  3. Transcript File. The document file must be in .pdf format.
  4. When you are done Associating Media items to this entry, click 'Save Changes' to return to the overall archive's settings.

Settings For Associated Media

  1. Link to Download - If a viewer should be able to download the file that is playing at the time, select 'Yes', and a 'Download' link will appear in the player allowing them to download that file. If you do NOT want them to be able to download the file, then choose 'No', and the 'Download' link will NOT appear, thus allowing them to play the file online only.
  2. Include in Podcast - If you choose to create a Podcast for the archive that this entry is a part of, you can choose if you would like to include each media file in this entry, in the podcast or not! To allow for a media file within the entry to be included in the podcast, choose 'Yes' for include in Podcast.  Otherwise, choose 'No' and that media file will not be included.
