click here. This allows you to have a full featured media center on your site allowing viewers to browse over all your archives and find entries. This is custom designed (styled), which allows it to match the look and feel of your site! Contact your account rep. for more details!
Highlighted features
Beyond the functionality of archiving media, this module includes the following!
- Podcasting Made Easy! - Podcasting functionality has been streamlined in this module by each archive having its own feed url! This URL can be used to setup a podcast in Itunes! Read the Podcasting Help Article to find out more information on how to do this!
- Universal Player - the above mentioned players are universal in that they will play via any browser! You do not have to worry about your end users having the latest versions of browsers to allow for the players to work!
To Add a new Media Archive to your site
- Access the page you are wanting to work with by starting in the main Pages tab and then click on the page name you would like to edit. If the page is not created yet, create it.
- Click the "Add to this Page" link to expand the list of available page parts, and then click on the 'Media Archives' link. You will notice that the Media Archives Page Part will be added to the page.
- Click the 'Add New' button to add an archive.
- Next, the system will display a screen allowing you to edit the overall information for this archive. This includes the: Archive Name, Archive Subtitle, Archive Image, layout mode for playing, and Archive Description (HTML WYSIWYG).
- Fill out the above information, and click the 'Save' button to continue. This will allow you to begin adding Episodes to your archive.
To Add episodes to your Media Archive
- Click the edit link to the left of the Archive name that you want to add entries to.
- You will see the main Archive's information again should you need to edit it. Scroll down to the Episodes / Entries area and then click the 'Add New' button.
- Next, the system will display a screen allowing you to edit the information for a single entry in your media archive.
- Fill out all the appropriate information.
NOTE: You will be able to save both Speakers and Categories so that you do not have to enter this information manually every time you add an episode! Once you add aspeaker or category, it will be databased, so that you can easilyselect it on your next episode if you need to! You do not have toassociate Media to your episode at first. You can enter all your episodes first, then come back via 'Edit' and add your associated media files at that time, should you prefer to do this. Otherwise, associate media with your episode.
With each episode, you can associate the following types of media:
- Audio File.
- Video File.
- Transcript File. The document file must be in .pdf format.
- When you are done Associating Media items to this entry, click 'Save Changes' to return to the overall archive's settings.
NOTE: Acceptable file types. For video: FLV/F4V and high-definition H264 (includes MOV, MP4, M4A, etc). And for audio: FLV/F4V and H264/AAC (includes MP4, M4A, etc). Keep in mind that Apple suggests the .mp4 file type for podcasting video.
Settings For Associated Media
- Link to Download - If a viewer should be able to download the file that is playing at the time, select 'Yes', and a 'Download' link will appear in the player allowing them to download that file. If you do NOT want them to be able to download the file, then choose 'No', and the 'Download' link will NOT appear, thus allowing them to play the file online only.
- Include in Podcast - If you choose to create a Podcast for the archive that this entry is a part of, you can choose if you would like to include each media file in this entry, in the podcast or not! To allow for a media file within the entry to be included in the podcast, choose 'Yes' for include in Podcast. Otherwise, choose 'No' and that media file will not be included. For more information on Podcasting the Archive see the bottom of this article.
To edit the Media Archive page part's name, click its name of the archive and edit it. Click save.
To edit the overall archive information, access the archive by clicking the edit link to the left of the archive's name. After you are done editing, click 'Save Changes'.
Toedit entries within the archive, access the archive by clicking the edit link to the left of the archive's name, scroll down to the episodes/entries section, and then click the 'edit' link to the left of theentry you are wanting to edit. After you are done editing, click 'SaveChanges'.
To remove an entry from your archive, you can temporarily remove it by checking the box to the left of the entry's name and then click the 'Archive' button. To remove the entry completely, click the trashcan icon to the left of the entry's name.
To remove an archive from your gallery of archives, you can temporarily remove it by checking the box to the left of the archive's name and then click the 'Archive' button. To remove the archive completely, click the trashcan icon to the left of the archive's name.
To remove the archive page part completely, click the 'Red X' by the page part's name, and confirm the deletion.
