Media Archives Migration
Easily migrate from your exsisting version 1 to the new version 2 module!
This article will detail the process of migrating your existing media archives from version 1 to the new version 2 module. We'll detail out what's new, the migration process, and the changes that you'll need to be involved in.
New Features
- MUCH FASTER EDITING! Editing system uses ajax technology for fast entry, updating, and saving - therefore saving you time. Also made channel, entry, and episode creation and maintenance more efficient.
- All the navigation, episodes, and media player exists within the page rather than a pop up window.
- The new media player allows for HD encoded videos along with YouTube and Vimeo support.
- Easily add channels (archives), series (new), and episodes with a few clicks.
- Artwork can be added for channels, series, and episodes.
- Generate podcasts at the channel level or the series level (new).
- More field management for your episodes.
Migration Process
- We'll handle the change from version 1 to version 2 on our side via a script that we run that will migrate you to the new version. This will allow for your current channels and episodes to stay intact. If you're currently using series on your archives, we'll use them and make new series with those in the new module.
- We'll handle re-routing your podcast feed urls for any existing archives you have which will allow you to save your subscriber base.
- You will be responsible for reviewing the new archive. We recommend using a temporary "under construction" message… If your archives are heavily used, you may want to list some of the new features you're utilizing, info about series level podcasts if you set them up, etc. While the archive migration will still work seamlessly, you may need to add in series artwork for the new series layouts as well.
- We'll address any links that you have within your site design that "pop's up" your existing version 1 player. These links will be routed to the page(s) that your media archives are installed on, as the new version player displays on the same page rather than a pop-up.
Timeframe
Typically, once we've set a date for your media archives to be migrated, the process only takes a few minutes to an hour, and we'll be in direct contact with you via email confirming the date and time we'll begin the change as well as notifying you when it is time for you to begin your review. We'll be readily available to address any questions or issues that arise
