Easily edit your site page's content while browsing your site live via the 'front-end'. This will save you time and increase your efficiency and productivity by not having to edit the page content within your admin area (the 'back-end') and flipping windows or tabs from the admin area to live view [unless you want to of course].
How to access Front-End Editing
- Submit the form below to become a beta user of this new functionality. We will add this feature at no cost to your hosting plan. We'll then notify you that the feature has been activated and all of your users will then be able to access and edit via the front end.
- Once the plan feature is enabled, you can access your admin area as you have been custom to doing and then load up your website and you'll be in viewing and editing mode. OR, while not logged into the admin area, access your website and type the letters admin. This will prompt you to log in. After you log in, you will be redirected to the page you started on, but you will see the admin box in the bottom of the screen.
The Admin box gives you some editing controls on the public side of your web site.
Docking the Box
The admin box is dockable on the left or right side of the bottom of the screen. To move it, simply drag it across the screen and it will dock on either the left or right side of the screen.
When you first login, you will see your profile picture and name at the bottom right of your screen. It will display your profile picture and your name. Below your name will be a link to logout of the admin view. At the right side of the box you’ll see a pen. If you click this pen you can change to edit mode and start editing items from the public side of the web site.
The edit box has a link to go to the full SiteWrench admin. Simply click the “Open in the CMS instead” link. The eye icon at the edge of the box allows you to return to preview mode. If you click the pen icon when in the “preview” mode, you will be changed to “edit” mode. This allows you to edit content on the page by clicking the content on the page and editing it.
Hovering over content on the page will expose a button to edit the content. Click this button and you will see the edit dialog for this page part in a modal window.
You can edit the content for this page part in the modal, then save save your changes in this window. Once you are done editing, click the “X” button or hit the “escape” key. This will close the window, reload the page, and show the changed content on the page.
