How Do you Create a Custom Page Part?

Custom Page Parts are created from either an existing matrix on the current site or from a list of Core Page Parts.

To create a Custom Page Part from an existing matrix on your site:

1. Go to /admin/pageparts/custom.aspx

2. Select New Custom Page Part

3. Select Create from an exiting Matrix on this Site

4. Select the matrix from the select and then choose Create

This will convert the source matrix page part into an instance of the new Custom Page Part
Note: This may take a moment.

5. Once the Custom Page Part has been created, the list of Custom Page Parts will refresh, and your new Custom Page Part will be visible.

From now on the Custom Page Part will appear just like a regular Page Part on the site. You can install new instances in every way a regular Page Part can be installed.

To create a Custom Page Part from a Core Custom Page Part

1. Go to /admin/pageparts/custom.aspx

2. Select New Custom Page Part

3. Select Create from a Core Custom Page Part

4. Select the Core Custom Page Part you’d like to copy to the site and then choose Create

This will create a copy of the Core Custom Page Part on your site. Any changes to the Core Custom Page Part will not affect this Custom Page Part installed on your site.

5. Once the Custom Page Part has been created, the list of Custom Page Parts will refresh, and your new Custom Page Part will be visible.

From now on the Custom Page Part will appear just like a regular Page Part on the site. You can install new instances in every way a regular Page Part can be installed.
